Most important is that they are properly aligned. You must look through them and make sure that you open both eyes and only see one image. Most cheap binoculars are not properly aligned so you see double or triple images. That is not so important for viewing on the ground but it is critical for astronomical viewing.
Don't get anything smaller than 10x50.
You must have a tripod to keep the views steady. Even your pulse will make them shake and wiggle.
Look for "fully Multi-coated" lenses.
